Foundation secures 'top tier' status
Leeds United Foundation, the official charity of the famous Elland Road club has been awarded Tier 1 Licence to operate an FA Girls’ Regional Talent Club for the 2016/17 season.
The introduction of the programme from next season sees the expansion of the previously successful Girls Centre of Excellence and extends the charities commitment to girl’s football.
Regional Talent Clubs (RTC’s) will replace The FA’s Girls’ Centre of Excellence model from next season and will deliver enhanced coaching and support, designed to further develop elite female players.

“This is a fantastic achievement for the girls and a wonderful finish to the Centre of Excellence season. The news comes on the back of Leeds United Foundation Girls being named among the countries elite Tier 1 Girls' Regional Talent Club. This is not only a great accomplishment for the Foundation but for the City of Leeds as well.
Regional Talent Clubs will replace The FA’s Girls’ Centre of Excellence and Player Development Centre model from next season, and will deliver enhanced coaching and support, designed to further enhance the development of elite female players.
“Extending our girls programme and pathways into excellence has long been a focus for us. Achieving a Tier 1 Licence demonstrates our intentions to deliver a first class programme for talented young female players.
“Not only are we developing stars of the future but also encouraging girls of all abilities to participation in the game.”
The centre will be an integral part of the England Women’s Elite Talent Pathway with The FA awarding Tier 1 Licence for three years.
The regional club will deliver a quality assured programme providing player development opportunities for elite female players at Under 10s, Under 12s, Under 14s, and Under 16s. Applications can be made via the Foundation website.
