FOUNDATION PARTNERS UP FOR NEW SUMMER ‘GAME’
The Leeds United Foundation has launched an innovative new partnership with major retailer, GAME.
The official charity of the Leeds United Club have teamed up with the console and gaming giants to offer all new #FIFAFriday’s tournaments to be held at Elland Road during the summer holidays. Gamers will face each other for a day of challenges and skills sessions on globally renowned XBox and Playstation game FIFA17.
Commenting on the partnership, Steve Stretch, Community Manager GAME, said:
“This is a tremendously exciting partnership for GAME and we’re delighted to work with a great cause in the form of The Leeds United Foundation. FIFA 17 is a global phenomenon and the people of Leeds are huge fans of it. The new #FIFAFridays will allow the city to come together and take part in a quality tournament with the chance to win prizes and of course, support the local community.”
The partnership will also see GAME provide prizes for the new "GAME Student of the Month" awarded to the best pupils on the Foundation BTEC Scholarship programme as a reward for improved attendance, attitude, behaviour and work.
Simon Fox, General Manager at The Leeds United Foundation, continued:
“Talking to many of the young people we work with, the question we are repeatedly asked is ‘when can we play in our own Leeds United Foundation FIFA 17 tournaments?’ Parents have also asked about extending our Soccer Schools to include Friday’s so children can be fully occupied in a safe, fun environment.
We also want to say 'well done' to many of our students on the Foundation's own BTEC programme as a reward for their hard work and success. The partnership with GAME allows us to do all those things and at the same time create a summer holiday entertainment option which will really spark the imagination of the city.”
Open to all ages, the FIFA 17 tournament will see gamers offered the chance to win unique rewards and compete to obtain the proud moniker of “The Official Leeds United Foundation FIFA Champion 2017.”
Entry for #FIFAFriday is £25 with all proceeds going towards expanding the community work of The Leeds United Foundation.
