Andy Howarth LL.B (Honours)
Currently serving his second term as a Trustee of The Leeds United Foundation, Armley-born Andy, attended Armley County Primary and Hough Side Secondary Modern leaving school at 15 with no qualifications, as he describes, 'some time ago'.
He subsequently worked for a city centre firm of solicitors before joining the police force, serving as an officer from 1973 to 2003 as a uniformed Constable in Holbeck, Leeds. Andy was appointed as a detective in 1978 serving in Huddersfield, Leeds, Force Intelligence, Millgarth CID and Special Branch.
In 1996 he attended Dewsbury Tech, gaining two 'A' levels in law, progressing to Leeds Beckett University where he undertook a four year part time degree in law culminating in his graduation in 2003 achieving an LL.B (Hons) Degree.
January 2003 saw Andy form 'Howarth's People and Safety Management' along with Helen (the lovely Mrs Howarth). The business now employs 20 people providing HR and employment law services from their headquarters in Cleckheaton. Eldest son Gavin, a qualified solicitor, is now Managing Director. Andy currently acts as Chairman and as a consultant for the growing business.
In 2015, the legal expert established and chaired the Yorkshire Business Connectors, a group of 15 prominent business leaders, working together to promote local and regional business and charitable causes.
One of Andy's proudest moments has been the creation of his own family charity, The Howarth Foundation, receiving all important charitable status in 2017. Created to support the homeless and assist those ready to take ‘the next step’ back into employment, Andy is CEO of the not for profit entity.
